The Next Phases Begins...

I never thought this day would come...really come. I hoped for so long but didn't want to force things cause like a good scrapbook page, these things take time and the more you pressure these things...the more ugly/unacceptable this can be. Yes, I planned early without a proposal or a ring...if you only know how early do book their weddings in Mla..you will understand. This is my story about all this. I'm sure I will look at this blog later on and laugh everything I was panicking about but for now, it's not a funny thing.

** and I were never the same type of person. I'm more of the Type A while he's totally the Type B. Type A would be the one who would just take things as they are. We believe in the motto that if it won't work, then we just get over things and move on. Type B's would find someone and make sure they gave it their all and make things work. I don't know why but **is such a wonderful guy in all this. He constantly amazes me on how he does surprise me with his heart and love for me. I'm sure if I met myself, I would just drop myself with all the drama and baggage that I come with.

Our dates for the last quarter in 2007 are: November or December

11 October 2006:
Finally got our dates so things got heated...este...started! :P Panic as to ensue.
I was at a conference so didn't get things working till I got back to the office at around 2pm. I called up my mom and gave her our dates to go to the churches that I would like to have the wedding at. The churches are below:
1) San Antonio
2) San Agustin
3) San Beda
4) Mla Cathedral

While my mom goes church-hopping, I called the hotels that ** and I would like to have our reception at. It was a quick one since it was simple to be connected to the right departments...the tough part is getting the dates that we would want.
1) Man
2) Mkt
3) Edsa

For the food and capacity, ** and I decided that we would want Man. The odd thing was that the person who called to reserve the venue called a few hours or so before me to book the place. I can't believe it! I was really desperate since at that time, I didn't have Mkti Shangri-La but I'm thankful that I did get it after I phoned and inquired of the place.

I had to wait till Friday to really know if it's a yes or a no on my end since the hotel had to give the other party some time to really decide and pay the downpayment. I was keeping my fingers crossed by then. The other couple's deadline was this coming Friday.

13 October 2006:
I was a wreck all day since ** and I talked about how we would rather have good food for our guests than having a big venue. We weren't going to take the 800 pax capacity of Edsa Shangri-La and take on such a large consumption requirement. We were okay with half and that only computes to Man. I was happy too to have Mkti as a back-up though we would have a smaller party. See below for my little notes on this.

  • Edsa:
Advantage - easy access; big and nice; newer hotel; good food
Disadvantage - very high minimum requirements to take the ballroom; cannot portion off the ballroom
  • Mkti:
Advantage - cocktail area available for guests who come early; small and intimate
Disadvantage - very limited area and sitting; food is so-so
  • Man:
Advantage - food is good; right capacity for our families combined; lower minimum requirement
Disadvantage - older hotel ballroom; no cocktails area; Captain's Bar will require room consumable requirement if we were to have cocktails there; expensive cocktail prices even if we were to use a smaller room for cocktails

By 6pm, I was at the edge of my seat. I kept pestering and reminding my Man contact person, Wella, to text me as soon as the couple has decided since I didn't want to wait till after the weekend before I know what was going on. I was in pure rut that whole day!

Wella's great...by 7pm, I got my answer.

I GOT IT! I told ** immediately of this then my mom and started to proceed with the other details of the wedding. I had my good date, my beautiful church and my awesome hotel. That kicked off my awesome weekend! :)

Now, I can somewhat spread some news to some special friends of mine. I was getting married...and I was really happy!
